Ash

The Ash tree was used by the Native Americans for making baskets. This is a medium sized to small tree, the ash tree is the first tree to lose it's leaves in the fall. Normally you find the ash tree growing by swamps. The ash is a good commodity because of the quickness of its growth and the toughness of its timber. It is the toughest and most elastic of our timber wood. Ash wood is used today for spears, bows and arrows.  Ash wood is used for more practical purposes than that of any other tree. Ash matures more rapidly than Oak.
